Pomp, Pageantry and Bunting

After spending our first week in the UK eating some form of potatoes at almost every meal, chips, mash, champ and potato bread we decided that we needed some rice so we found a local chinese restaurant and ordered some special fried rice.  The funny thing was the restaurant was run by indians!  The food was great.

The following day was the final day of the Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations which involved Thanksgiving and prayer at St Paul's, then lunch at West Minster followed by a precession to Buckingham Palace.  We firstly headed down to Oxford Circus for a spot of window shopping and bunting.

We then joined the thousands of patriotic Brits at Hyde Park where we could watch the precession on the big screens.

Once Lizzy was safely inside her palace The Mall was opened to the public.  We tried to get down there but so too did every man and his corgi!

Along the way we got stopped to let the mounted guards pass as they headed to the Royal Mews out the back of the palace.  Suppose they are not posh enough to use the front door.

The final act was reserved for the RAF.
